I ran across this article. Scientists examining satellite data currently believe that the Mayans wiped themselves out… by cutting down their trees.

Cutting the trees for agriculture and building raised the temperature of the land on the peninsula by 2-5 degrees Celsius during the rainy season, scientists now theorize, cutting rainfall up to 30 percent. The result? Intolerable strain on Mayan civilization.

If this is indeed how the Mayans wiped themselves out, it wouldn’t be the first time. The Easter Islanders sealed their doom the same way.

This should make anyone stop and think.

Star Trek XI was like watching fanfiction. A fanfiction where the author made Kirk into his Possession Sue, then set the story in an alternate universe to compensate for the fact that he just couldn’t get his characters (and maybe even the universe) straight.

I recently found out that PETA president Ingrid Newkirk just turned 60.

My brain reeled, and the first thought that registered was, “ONLY 60?” Honestly, I thought this woman was older. Maybe nearing 70. Especially after the time she fell and snapped her wrist bones trying to catch herself.

So much for vegan diets slowing down the aging process…

Oh, and apparently PETA got butthurt because President Obama killed a fly. Um. Right. Can we possibly get any stupider?

YECs have a little game they play on YouTube: censor videos they don’t agree with by flagging the crap out of them. Then when that fails, file a false DMCA report so YouTube will pull the video.

The very awesome Don Exodus made a video refuting the Discovery Institute’s attack lemming, Casey Luskin. The Discotute first tried to silence Don by flagging his videos, then by filing a false DMCA report. Don didn’t take this sitting down.

You’d think that after the kerfuffle with geocentricism a few centuries ago, they’d have learned that this kind of crap doesn’t work.
