This is such a desperate situation already and despite what I've read about the rise in child obesity in starting to level out it's still got to be at the forefront of our minds to find a solution...

Great article and food for thought. I think animals have some morals in their social structure. If animals could talk, we'd find out much more than we know now.

Hear hear, so true. I love your blog.

It always boggles my mind that ARA's can equate animal rights to environmentalism. They obviously don't know enough science to know that the horse, the donkey and the ox were the first and only environmentaly friendly forms of transport.

If humans were, as they claim, naturally vegetarians, no-one would need in-vitro meat. The launching of this contest just goes to prove that humans not only want, but need to eat meat. (BTW, have you seen inbred's hair lately? She's certainly lacking something in her diet).

They don't care about animals, the environment, humans, or the truth. They care about power and control, attention, money and boosting their own egos. It's all do as I say not as I do in petaland.

Well done post.

The spreading of missinformation by animal rights groups is nothing new and most do it. This is done in the hopes of gathering more support.

Do I like animals? Yes, and I can recommend a couple of animal welfare groups for people who want to help without diving into the deep end of the dogma-doo pool.

Does veganism help you lose weight? Sometimes. It works for some people - but not everyone.

Does veganism help the environment/economy? Not as much as some would like to think.

So we shouldn't kill people because they want to take a cruise?

How about this: We should treat others (including other animals) compassionately and respectfully.

I have a big problem with cruelity and the mistreatment of anything, human or animal. But animal activists and PETA supporters seem to want the same rights that were created and often disregarded for humans to apply to the animal world. To do this one would have to ignore the fact that carnivores naturely kill and eat other animals to sustain their own life. Thats just the dance of life! Humans and our companion pets (dogs and cats) can not be changed into vegetarians without serious consequences. As a young student at Cornell vet. school I was taught that most species that have parished from our planet had their environment and food source changed. Do PETA people truly believe that ending the farming of animals for clothing and food is best for society at large? Having the good fortune of having grown up in the Pocono mountains had allowed me to see animals and humans in their nature state. In nature each sub-species is going to do what it needs to protect and maintain it's community. That includes fighting off neighboring enemies and killing enough to satisfy the growth of all in the community. The weak and injuried pass and the strong continue on! My questions are, should domesticated animals be held to higher standard than us and have different rights or protection under the law than farm animals? and why? I am often offended when certain segments of our society try to force their values onto me regarding the raising of my child. Telling me what I can or can not do with a family pet borders on the obsurd!
