Golems are creatures of Jewish folklore.

Created thousands of years ago by priests or other clever men with beards, such as wizards. They are comprised of mainly clay, but have a scroll in their heads called their Chem. This scroll gives them instructions and, if destroyed, destroys the golem. The Chem also gives them life.

Few golems were made with tongues, but some were made to be messengers, such as Anghammarad, from Going Postal by Terry Pratchett. At almost nineteen thousand years old, he was still strong and worked for the postal service until his accidental death. He says at one point in the novel, "[The Priests] Gave Me A Voice That I Might Carry Messages. Of Such Things Is The World Made."

An interesting thought in their speech is that the golems do not speak in CAPITAL LETTERS like Death, but they do not speak as humans do. They use quotes, but they capitalize the first letter of every word.
