Hello and welcome to the Bestiary of Role-Players! Here you can read all about the many species and subspecies of role-players and their characters out there. Enjoy!

Barbarian Warrior
Also known as the Combat Bunny, this guy is always looking for a fight. He'll fight with or without an excuse and will happily clash swords with anyone who'll give him the pleasure. He'll continually pick fights in hopes that someone will oblige him. Of course, not everyone is willing to do battle!

Brooder
This poor fellow has a deep, dark past. His parents might be dead, his village might be burned, or he might be a vampire bemoaning his dark and lonely path in life. He's often reluctant to talk about what's troubling him - he'd much rather wallow in self-pity as a means to get "unwanted" attention from other players.

Cookie Cutter Character
Ah, a regular nuisance. The Cookie Cutter Character in and of itself isn't blatantly obvious... until the player starts pulling up characters who are identical to each other in some respect. They often have the same basic backstories, appearances, powers, and the same tastes with only a few minor details changed. Different frosting, same cookie.

Copy-Cat
A character that no respectable role-player ever wishes to see. What happens is that the player cannot seem to come up with his or her own ideas, so he or she snatches another character (very often from his or her favorite fandom), changes a few details (such as the backstory, powers, and gender) and voila! Instant character! Unfortunately, it's pretty easy to see through.

The God
The God (the God, not THE God) is often quite the show-off in his own right. Any attempted attacks will be absorbed or deflected (and usually back onto the other player.) He's known to create random portals for the heck of it and will attempt to impress other players with his cosmic, world-shattering powers. Sometimes, he might try to be "helpful," but other players probably didn't want his "help" anyway - it's just an excuse to show off.

Cocktail
This is one bad mixed drink. The Cocktail combines aspects of the player's favorite fandoms, no matter how absurd they are when put together. They will use weapons and gadgets which have no place in whatever universe they have chosen to disgrace and might even be of a strange and unusual species never before seen by anyone in the realm.

Liquid Nitrogen
The slightest provocation (real or imagined) will make this character totally blow his circuits. Liquid Nitrogen will take it as a personal attack and blow up in a violent fit, leaving your character with a knife to his throat, a gun to his head, or laying on a heap on the floor. Liquid Nitrogen has a serious persecution complex and really needs to get over himself - not everything everyone says is a personal attack.

NOTE: This character usually comes about because of the player's own insecurity. An experienced, secure role-player can play this type and play it well.

Lost Child
A sad-looking tyke wandering around all alone, this child has usually lost her parents to some horrible tragedy. How she has survived is anybody's guess. She may look small and helpless, but she's not. In fact, this lass (or lad, as the case may be) of a tender age might be a skilled theif. Or she just might be a wandering waif looking for attention.

Mental Case
Somebody must have let this guy out of his padded cell. Not only does he act crazy, but he's proud of it. He'll flood a serious RP with a deluge of "random insanity goodness," going to such ridiculous extremes as robbing cheese shops and beating fellow players with rubber chickens. When in large groups, they will usually have a fine time posting nonsensical script-style fluff. However, if one ventures into a role-play that is not of his element, the more serious-minded players will quickly oust him.

Mysterious Snit She walks into the scene with a certain grace, her eyes full of wisdom. She knows more than any other player. Sometimes she claims to "know" more than the player who set up the role-play in the first place. In fact, she probably knows about everything and everyone that has even the slightest relevance to the quest (and herself). She also has the habit of wandering away from the group to ponder mysteries that do other mysterious stuff.

Prima Donna
This character can be any type and any gender. The common trait of the Prima Donna is their annoying habit of automatically assuming center stage and making the roleplay all about themselves. They are the stars and other characters are only for filling supporting roles.

Professional Lover (aka Despie)
The Professional Lover is in it for the thrill of the hunt. Quite often a female, her trademarks are skimpy, sexy clothing and a sultry voice, not to mention flowing locks... well, you get the idea. She's after her man of the day. Sometimes the Lover is only looking for a little light romance, but sometimes she's after less innocent sport. The Professional Lover can be both sexes, of course, with the male usually being rougishly handsome.

Psychic Know-It-All
You can't be everywhere at once, but this character sure tries! There's no outmanuvering the Psychic Know-It-All because... well, he knows it all. No matter what you do, he can "sense" it before you get the chance to do it. If you try to sneak up upon this character, he will "know" that you are there. If you are making important plans fifty miles away, he will "see" it... even if he didn't know you were there to begin with.

Racist
Not the biggest pest in the box, but definitely annoying if misused. This character has a chronic hatred/fear of one or more species that is not her own, quite often because someone of this species slaughtered her family for no apparent reason.

Scapegoat
The Scapegoat isn't a character per se, but rather an immature player. If a Scapegoat does something that annoys another player and this player complains, the Scapegoat will call up hisr tormented, angst-ridden past in order to justify his actions and/or make the other characters feel sorry for him. It may work some of the times, but more experienced players just want to put the Scapegoat out of everyone's misery.

Temper Tantrum
Again, another immature player. When something happens that does not please the Temper Tantrum, he will not hesitate to let everyone else know - and loudly. His annoying protests will quickly get on everyone's nerves - especially when he screams "GET OUT OF THIS RP!" or "THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED, SO TOUGH!" He will often whine and snivel to get what he wants, and usually deserves a good slap on the face.

White Knight
Is there a damsel in distress? A dragon terrorizing the village? The White Knight will show up to save the day. Usually a handsome ladies' man, the White Knight is the among the first to join in a quest and immediately tries to take the leadership position. He is also known for his habit of flaunting off his amazing skills and bragging about previous glories. Although his willingness to lend a hand isn't always a bad thing, his tendancy to brag can get a little old.

Zookeeper
Often female, the Zookeeper wanders around with her platoon of mystical pets, who usually have mystical bonds with their mistress and are loyal to her until death. One or two pets aren't too bad, but you've got to admit there's something mighty funny about a girl with five unicorns, three hawks, and a giant dragon to keep her company.
